Chambres D'Hotes - Domaine Gigou is a hidden gem nestled in the tranquil surroundings of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir. My stay here was characterised by the warm hospitality of Madame Gigou, who welcomed us like old friends and provided a good introduction to her family's vineyard. Our spacious room offered a lovely view of the fields and a private bathroom, perfect after a long day of exploration, which is something I always appreciate as a weary history professor on the road. While the continental breakfast consisted solely of jams and baked goods, it was nonetheless enjoyable, and the convivial atmosphere around the large communal table offered opportunities for engaging conversations with fellow guests. the hotel’s easy accessibility for cyclists and motorcyclists, coupled with a safe space to store our bikes, made it an ideal stopover for my companions and me, who relish our travels on two wheels. The surrounding area is perfect for those who enjoy leisurely bike rides, mirroring my own passion for cycling through beautiful landscapes. The charming wine produced on-site adds a unique touch to the experience, complemented by guided visits to the wine cellars, which I found deeply enriching. I look forward to returning to this enchanting haven, to delve further into its history and enjoy the welcoming ambiance created by its good hosts.
